Involvements With The University of Guelph

Involvements With The University of Guelph

An example of his hard work inside the Italian Canadian club and the Italian community of Guelph in general is found in album 11 where a picture of a newspaper clipping shows Peter handing a scholarship of $500 dollars to the vice president academic of the University of Guelph. Underlined in this clipping is the sentence “the university of Guelph is proud to be associated with the Guelph Italian community through the scholarships”, the index of the picture in the clipping also suggests that the scholarship given by the Canadian Italian club of Guelph to the university is an “annual” event.

-----------------------------

In 1952, Peter was one of the founding members of the Italian Canadian Club of Guelph, along with George Longo, Angelo Longo, Puss Valeriote, Andy Malison, Albert Mezzabotta, Louis Ferraro, Cosmo Ferraro, Joe Carere, Caseo Valeriote, Rudolph Sorbara and others. Peter became president of the club in 1957-1959 and 1966-1968[1]. Ricardo Gazzola clarified, in an interview conducted on November 20th of 2019, that all the founding members took turns at the presidency of the club because they all had invested money into its making, and therefore had wanted to see their investments thrive and prosper.
